THE SUPERMAN BOOK WE HAVEN’T SEEN YET Posted: 092116
Trevor Von Eeden was hired by DC when he was just 16. He co-created Black Lightning, DC’ Comics first black superhero lead character, with Tony Isabella. Von Eeden also did a limited series called Thriller that was ground breaking at the time. And then he disappeared off the face of the Earth. In a recent interview with Comics Creator News he revealed that he didn’t deal with stardom well and that was why he stopped working. He also revealed that he and current Batman writer Tom King were working on a Black Lightning/Superman comic called "Sources". He also revealed that Superman Group Editor Eddie Berganza disappeared on him in the middle of him working on it as he was recovering from cancer surgery. In the piece Von Eeden says that he was asked by Editor Harvey Richards to draw three Hawkman sample pages for Editor Bob Harras to approve of in December. In January Harras’ learned Von Eeden was diagnosed with cancer and communication stopped. In February Berganza told him that he was having a Superman/Black Lightning script written for him. And then a month later communication stopped again. After a while the art was finished and DC paid for it but to this day the issue hasn’t been scheduled. DC does plan on eventually publishing the comic but the book won’t have the same impact.
