Tim Miller isn’t directing Deadpool 2 due to creative
differences between him and Ryan Reynolds. Miller was involved in developing the
script and hadn’t signed a deal to return but it was expected. He will be
replaced by John Wick’s David Leitch. The dispute between Miller and Reynolds
came down to differences in casting choices and tone. Miller wanted Bloodline’s
Kyle Chandler to play Cable and for the sequel to be a little more stylish and
serious. Reynolds didn’t want Chandler and since his deal allowed him casting
approval he got his way. Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wanted the film to
be like the first one as well. Before Miller left the role of Domino was going
to be filled by either Halt And Catch Fire’s Mackenzie Davis, Now You See Me 2’s
Lizzy Caplan, 10 Cloverfield Lane’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead, American Sniper’s
Sienna Miller, The Mummy’s Sofia Boutella or The Knick’s Eve Hewson. |
