CYBORG GETS IN HER OWN WAY AGAIN

The UFC has been taking heat for not creating a 145-pound women’s division built around current Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino but UFC President Dana White says she has been the reason why it hasn’t happened. White offered her a title fight at 145 pounds and gave her eight weeks to make the weight and she passed. That fight was to have been against Holly Holm but Cyborg and Holm’s camp passed. Holm’s people wanted a fight at 138 pounds so a replacement was found then Cyborg said no again. Her reason for turning down the fight was that she hadn’t recovered for the brutal weight cut for her last fight. White wasn’t buying any of that. And then the other shoe dropped when Cyborg failed another drug test. The out of competition sample she gave on 12/5 came back dirty. She says she failed the test due to a drug she took to recover from her weight cut but since she didn’t list it on her paperwork it’s a failure nevertheless. If the USDA had been aware of her taking the drug then she may have avoided all this but since she didn’t it’s another black mark on her career. She is likely to be suspended but the length of it is unknown.
