Marvel’s next major event will be called Secret Empire. It will be tied into the
fact that Captain America is actually a Hydra sleeper agent who has a plan for
Hydra to take over the world. The event will be written by Nick Spencer and be
drawn by Steve McNiven, Andrea Sorrentino, Leinil Yu, and Daniel Acuna. Mark
Brooks will be the primary cover artist for the event. The event is the logical
progression of the reveal that Steve Rogers is now as Hydra sleeper agent that
was behind many of the events of Civil War II, including the murder of Bruce
Banner whose body he now has. All of these moves were behind the scenes but will
now become public since now all of the founding Avengers except semi-retired
Janet Van Dyne are either dead, incapacitated, or off the board. The event will
begin with Secret Empire #0 in April, when we will see three separate events
break out all at once. Since Steve Rogers is now the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. he
will coordinate the response to the attacks which were all planned by Hydra. The
event series will run for nine issues. |
