Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero Sr. passed
away at the age of 68. He was Eddie Guerrero’s brother and father to Chavo
Guerrero, who wrote the following on Instagram: “Today the world lost a true
rebel. He did things “HIS” way. Not always right, not always wrong, but He
always followed what he believed in. He was diagnosed with liver cancer in early
January of this year. As believer in Christ Jesus, he is now in Paradise. Today
is a sad day in the Guerrero Family. Rest In Peace, Chavo “Classic” Guerrero Sr.
#rip #nowinheaven” He was born Salvador Guerrero III on Jan. 7, 1949, in El
Paso, Texas. He was the oldest of six children in a family who has been a major
part of wrestling beginning with his father, Gory Guerrero and his brothers,
Mando, Hector and Eddie. Chavo had a major run in the NWA Hollywood Wrestling
territory, where he was a 15-time champion and a major rival of “Rowdy” Roddy
Piper. His WWE run began in 2004 where he got involved in the feud between Eddie
and son Chavo Jr. He was the oldest Superstar to win the original Cruiserweight
Championship. |
