All Star Batman Experimentation Will Lead to a New Superhero

The back up stories in All-Star Batman have laid up the path that Duke Thomas will be setting out on this summer. Scott Snyder has been playing with the format of the book as of late. In All-Star Batman #8 the issue used a first-person narrative that made readers unsure if Batman was alright or under the control of the Mad Hatter. #9 will have art from American Vampire’s Rafael Albuquerque and will tell a tale from Alfred’s past when he was working for MI-6 and working in Miami. The issue will be followed by one drawn by Sean Murphy and have a Dark Knight Returns feel to it. It will be the first one without a back-up story. #9 will be the end of the Duke Thomas back-up stories and in it we will learn along with him what his role in Gotham and in the DCU is going to be. The reveal will lead into Duke finally getting a superhero name which could be Lark unless DC makes Snyder change his mind. And with his new code name he will be deeply involved in the secret project Snyder is working on with Greg Capullo and Dark Days.
