Impact Wrestling's parent company had officially acquired
Global Force Wrestling earlier and the reason why has been revealed. Impact
Wrestling will now be known as Global Force Wrestling. According to The
Tennessean it’s hoped that the move will distance the company from the financial
troubles and legal drama that surrounded it under the previous ownership. The
weekly TV show will still be called Impact and their offices will remain in
Nashville. GFW’s Jeff Jarrett was already in charge of creative after Anthem
purchased TNA and their titles also began appearing on Impact with the plan to
merge them with Impact's belts at the recent Slammiversary. That show had the
AAA team of Drago & El Hijo del Fantasma versus LAX in a tag team match. LAX is
managed by Konnan, who is the booker for AAA’s rival, the Clash. Drago and
Fantasma happen to also be under contract to Lucha Underground exclusively which
makes it the first time they have allowed talent to appear for another wrestling
promotion on television. In other Impact news, the financial situation doesn’t
appear to be much better since the promotion released agents Pat Kenney, Al Snow
and Shane Helms recently. |
