Producer Simon Kinberg has broken down the state of Fox’s X-Men films. He says
Channing Tatum wants to get the Gambit film right and is willing to wait until
it is. The film was first supposed to be directed by Planet of the Apes’ Rupert
Wyatt and when he dropped out Edge of Tomorrow’s Doug Liman. Liman dropped out
because as he was working on it he realized he had no personal connection to the
film…Kinberg believes that Alpha Flight or an Exiles film could happen and the
X-Force film will be an R-rated film…he isn’t even thinking of replacing Hugh
Jackman as Wolverine but says Jackman will be involved in the decision…the
planned X-Men: The New Mutants film will have The Originals’ Blu Hunt as
Danielle Moonstar, Split’s Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Game of Thrones’ Maisie
Williams as Wolfsbane, Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, 13 Reasons
Why’s Henry Zaga as Sunspot and instead of Rosario Dawson Queen of the South’s
Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes. Dawson dropped out of the film. New Mutants
will be a horror film and we will not see them in uniforms…X-Men: Dark Phoenix
will involve Sunfire, Dazzler, Monet, Mimic, Rogue, Karl Lykos/Sauron,
Mastermind and members of the Hellfire Club and the Shi’ar Imperial Guard.
Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Evan Peters, Nicholas Hoult,
Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Kodi Smit-McPhee are all
returning. Zero Dark Thirty’s Jessica Chastain is likely to play Shi’ar Empress
Lilandra Neramani in Kinberg’s first film as a director…producer Hutch Parker
says that Dafne Keen will not cameo as Laura/X-23 in any planned films so is we
see here again (which is likely) it will be in a solo film. |
