The first new Geoff Johns written comic since last year’s DC Universe: Rebirth one-shot is the event series Doomsday Clock with his regular artist Gary Frank. The series will deliver the payoff to the ending of DC Universe: Rebirth that revealed Watchmen’s Doctor Manhattan had manipulated the very fabric of the DC Universe. Here is what we know so far: the first issue had to ship the Wednesday before Thanksgiving because when Johns was a kid he liked the fact that when he bought comics that day he had the entire Thanksgiving weekend to read them…there will be characters in Doomsday Clock that he has never written before…he is using Doctor Manhattan because he’s the only character that can mess with time and make such radical changes…the first issue will introduce a new female character…the 12-issue story will take place a year from now in the DCU so when it ends the DCU will catch up and be affected…it does take place after Dark Nights: Metal…we will see a conversation between the Lex Luthor and the smartest man of another world…at one point the event wasn’t going to happen because the story wasn’t gelling at all. When he and Frank were on the set of Wonder Woman they almost killed it then the day after the Presidential election it turned into a bigger story.
