A JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY Posted: 100217
Star Trek: Discovery is up and running on CBS All Access and here is what we know about upcoming episodes: Jonathan Frakes will direct an episode…Sonequa Martin-Green’s character of Michael Burnham is actually the first human to attend the Vulcan Science Academy and is Spock’s never before mentioned adopted sister…The Office’s Rainn Wilson will plays TOS conman Harry Mudd…the Klingons will continue to speak full Klingon language on screen as opposed to English and use subtitles…the series will fill in gaps and things hinted at in other series and of course raise new questions…a second season is already being planned that will deal with the aftermath of the skirmish with the Klingons but not the Klingon War…former showrunner Bryan Fuller had a plan for a different eras of Star Trek to be explored each season. He wanted to make a show similar to American Horror Story and have the show cover the eras of Captain James T. Kirk and Captain Jean-Luc Picard then show a timeline never seen before. CBS thought that was too ambitious and passed. The network wanted David Semel to direct the pilot but Fuller wanted a film director and even reached out to Baby Driver’s Edgar Wright. And while we are likely to see multiple seasons of Discovery even though a fourth film was planned that would include Chris Hemsworth as Kirk’s father Zachary Quinto says the film is in limbo at the moment.
