The multiple Avengers titles will
become one this January in an event called Avengers: No Surrender. The 16-issue
weekly story will combine Avengers, Uncanny Avengers and U.S.Avengers. Mark Waid,
Al Ewing, and Jim Zub will write the books and Pepe Larazz, Kim Jacinto, and
Paco Medina will draw the books. All 16 scripts all already in for the tale that
involves all of the current team members and a new character called Voyager, who
Editor Tom Brevoort says is the "most important character in the Marvel Universe
you don't remember." He says the weekly event came about because retailers
complained about multiple Avengers books shipping the same week and this was the
best way to stop that. When the event begins the Earth has been stolen. It’s
just somewhere else and the Avengers have to figure how and why as they fight
Thanos’ Black Order and a new version of the Lethal Legion. A hint of the event
was inside Marvel Legacy #1. We were introduced to the 1,000,000 B.C. Avengers
in that one shot and while they will be seen in No Surrender that’s not the only
place that team will be seen. Marvel has also hinted that Bruce Banner and Hank
Pym will be involved as will Red Wolf and Lightning. Now as to Voyager she will
appear in Avengers #675 and we will know who she is in Avengers #676. Brevoort
has made clear that she isn’t an adult Kobik. No Surrender will end before
Avengers: Infinity War is in theaters and the conclusion will lead into the end
of the current Avengers team and set up a brand new one. Once this is over we
could get an X-Men or Defenders weekly event story told in the same manner. |
