We
now know what Brian Michael Bendis is going to do at DC. It had already been
announced that he and Jim Lee were doing a story in Action Comics #1000. On May
30th DC will release a 6-issue weekly series called Man of Steel. The artists
assigned to the book are Ivan Reis, Evan “Doc” Shaner, Ryan Sook, Kevin Maguire,
Adam Hughes, and Jason Fabok. The limited series will spin off of the Action
story and set up a new status quo for Superman while introducing a new villain
and new supporting characters. Once that is done then Bendis will take over
Action Comics and Superman. Superman will get a new #1 and be an adventure
driven book starting in July; Action Comics #1001 will focus more on Clark,
Metropolis, the Daily Planet and Superman’s effect on the world of DC. Bendis
promises this isn’t a reboot of Superman or his world. Bendis is also a part of
the Free Comic Book Day book DC Nation #0 with a story drawn by the semi-retired
José Luis García-López. That story is intended to redesign Metropolis and give
it a distinctive look. And if that wasn’t enough all of Bendis’ Jinxworld
properties are moving to DC in a new kind of deal combining reprints of all of
that material and debuting brand new material using the Young Animal model. He
will write some of the stories and find writers to do the other ones. The
material will use DC characters and place them in unique situations. (Credit
