Clint
Barton and Kate Bishop are hanging out in Los Angeles now and since they are
there the two Hawkeye’s decide to reform the West Coast Avengers. The book will
be written by Hawkeye’s Kelly Thompson and be drawn by Stefano Caselli. Marvel
enjoyed her work on Hawkeye and thought a West Coast Avengers book would make
perfect sense coming out of the series. The team roster includes America Chavez
and her boyfriend Johnny. Since America is the big powerhouse on the team and
was a member of the Ultimates so people will openly wonder why she is on this
team since she could do much better. Johnny is a guy in way over his head since
he has barely used his powers and is now on a superhero team, in a costume,
living with his new girlfriend and a bunch of strangers. Gwenpool is also a
member and she doesn’t exactly fit the team dynamic but she has worked with Kate
before. And the last member is the perpetual wild card, Quentin Quire. His
brutally honest nature will challenge and push the team in a lot of ways. Of
course the hook to the series is that the team isn’t funded by Tony Stark but by
them living together on a reality show. The book will not be as serious as the
Jason Aaron Avengers book. #1 will see the return of a classic West Coast
Avenger, some threads from Hawkeye will be picked up on, Madame Masque will
definitely be showing up and the team will travel to other California cities
eventually.
