After another lackluster performance in the
Octagon at UFC 225 President Dana White told reporters, "It should be a wrap.
The guy is 39 years old. I love the guy -- he's the nicest guy in the world. We
gave him two shots, and he had a lot of heart tonight in this fight. And, yeah,
I think he should call it a wrap." Punk didn’t talk to reporters after the fight
because he was sent to the hospital after the loss. (It was UFC night at my job
and at the United Center) White also had nothing good to say about Mike Jackson
who was reluctant to finish a fight he was dominant in. White says Jackson's UFC
career is over and that he wouldn't even put him on the Tuesday Night Contender
Series. UFC commentator Joe Rogan was against the idea of even putting Punk on
the PPV card. He called the fight and said on his podcast, “He’s a very nice guy
and he’s a hard worker, but he does not have athletic talent. He’s missing a
lot. He’s a showman, and when he was in the WWE, he was allowed to say, ‘I am
the f–king man!’ And throw his arms up in the air and they had it scripted so
that he was the man. But when you’re in there with a guy like Mike Jackson, who
had zero fear of him and was just so casual, just popping him in the face
anytime he wanted to, he literally could’ve stopped him anytime, if he just got
angry and wanted to stop him, he could’ve at any point in the fight.” Rogan said
he saw no improvement at all in Punk’s second fight and he just doesn’t have the
physical talent. He doesn’t know if he isn’t trying but Punk’s failures aren’t
due to his coaching. |
