The
first part of Infinity Wars was weird enough but Gerry Duggan says we haven’t
seen anything yet. In the first issue we learned that Requiem was Gamora, who
killed her adoptive father Thanos, the Mad Titan, to get control of all six
Infinity Stones. Duggan planned that all along even when Brian Michael Bendis
was preparing to hand off Guardians of the Galaxy. He thought that we should
actually see why Gamora was called “the deadliest woman in the galaxy.” Her
killing her ‘father’ will affect the events the Cosmic Ghost Rider limited
series since that character has custody of a time displaced infant version of
Thanos. Duggan says that Thanos as you know him is dead, something that he
wanted to happen. That was worked out with Donny Cates, Jason Aaron and Bendis
when he was still at Marvel. The recently shipped Thanos: Legacy one-shot
includes a flashback from Gamora’s childhood and sets up Cates new Guardians of
the Galaxy ongoing. In the pages of Infinity Wars Loki has been trying to
understand who he is and his place in the world which has led him to something
created by Jeff Lemire, the God Quarry A.K.A. the Quarry of Creation. Loki wants
to learn what’s under the quarry and that may not work out well for him. One
thing for sure is when Infinity is over we will know Loki’s position in the
Marvel Universe. In Infinity Wars #1 Loki saw an alternate reality version of
him and this month fans will see limited series showing what Marvel is calling
Infinity Warps. Once Infinity Wars is over Duggan will have told his final
Marvel Cosmic story. |
