Agent Carter has been off ABC since 2016
but fans still hold out hope for a third season. Writer Jose Molina says that if
the show had been renewed it would’ve upped the stakes of the show’s Cold War
espionage intrigue with the action moving overseas. Season 3 would have
investigated the assassination attempt on Jack Thompson and sent the team to
London, where we would learn that Peggy’s late brother Michael was still alive.
The end of season 2 had Chad Michael Murray’s Thompson shot by a mysterious
person who takes Peggy Carter’s file with him/her. Hayley Atwell confirmed the
plans at a con appearance in 2016. There were rumblings about the show moving to
Netflix but Molina says that was never an option because the show had a
different tone than the Marvel shows on the streaming service. Marvel’s head of
television, Jeph Loeb, says that Atwell would love to return but there isn’t
much interest from networks. Atwell blames the cancellation on ABC and not
Marvel. They made the call and put her in another show that was mainstream but
the show was cancelled shortly after it ran. |
