Robert
Venditti and Bryan Hitch’s Hawkman series has streamlined Carter Hall’s
confusing continuity to tell stories that deal with archaeological and science
fiction based mysteries. Venditti’s version of Hall is not the noble savage that
he has been in most of the series past and is more introspective who uses
violence when he needs to. With his long history according to Venditti he won’t
hit you first, but he’ll hit you last. In #4 the Atom finally showed up after
Hall found out he has spent countless lives reincarnating across time and space
and so he needs help understanding things from the genius physicist who also
happens to be his best friend? And the dichotomy between the two allows Bryan
Hitch to come up with great visuals since Hawkman’s power set is largely
horizontal while the Atom’s power set is largely vertical. The series will take
the reveal that Hawkman is older than even he realizes and lived lives that he
doesn’t remember. We will see those lives and yes, explore that two-page spread
seen in #1 that showed multiple Hawkmen. |
