Jeff
Jarrett and Global Force Entertainment Inc. have filed a lawsuit against Anthem
Sports, the parent company of Impact Wrestling, charging them with copyright and
trademark infringement. The suit claims that Anthem and their Anthem Wrestling
Exhibitions division continue to use footage from the Global Force Wrestling
Amped tapings from years back without Jarrett’s permission. The suit claims that
both parties talked about merging back in December of 2016, and in May of 2017
signed a term sheet. The document makes it clear that GFE would keep all rights
to the Amped footage. The two companies never did merge and when Jarrett was
fired from Impact Wrestling the deal went with it. The problem is the footage
has run and no money was paid to either Global Force Entertainment or Jeff
Jarrett. The footage has been shown on the Fight Network website, Anthem’s
wrestling distribution service Global Wrestling Network and is also available on
Impact’s online store as a DVD you can buy. The suit also mentions that the
names and the logos of the Global Wrestling Network and Global Force Wrestling
are basically the same. Jarrett and GFE are looking for either triple Anthem’s
profits or damages to GFE, whichever is greater. Jarrett wants the footage back
and everything removed from Anthem’s archives. |
