Rumor's Abound Concerning Cavill's Future as the Man of Steel

There is a lot of confusion on whether Henry Cavill is still Superman. THR reported that Cavill was no longer playing Superman after negotiations for a cameo in Shazam broke down due to scheduling conflicts. He was still doing Mission Impossible Fallout at the time. They made the leap in faith that Warners had reportedly decided to part ways with him. But that wasn’t the case at all. Warners has pushed ahead with a new Supergirl film and stated that a solo Superman film wasn’t on the schedule. When fans noticed this the studio maintained that they still had a relationship with Cavill who had just signed on as the lead in the Netflix series The Witcher. Then Deadline reported that Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan has been thrown up as a possible new Superman but also said a new Superman film wasn’t on the schedule for a while. Cavill’s agent Dany Garcia posted this on Twitter: “Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe. Anticipate a WB statement later today.” And their statement was: “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.” Cavil then posted on Instagram a video with him in a Krypton Lifting Team t-shirt as he slowly raised an action figure of himself into and out of the frame. He is still under contract for one more film so no one knows what the real story is and for all we know a new Superman film could be announced before years end.
