Action
Comics #1005 from Brian Michael Bendis and Ryan Sook was a pretty loaded issue.
We learned the identity of Red Cloud, had the Question come to Metropolis and
saw the H-E-R-O Dial, which will be part of Bendis’ Wonder Comics imprint.
According to Bendis Action is the book that will drive all of his DC work. He
thinks that Superman is the book about Superman as a character and stories that
literally only Superman could do or star in but Action Comics is the Clark Kent
story. Action has been telling the story of the Invisible Mafia, which shows
than even in his own city people are working against Superman depending on the
situation. That’s why the Red Cloud is someone who works around Clark to
accomplish what she needs to do. The H-E-R-O Dial was seen in the issue to
reintroduce it to readers and make it clear that the Wonder Comics line is in
continuity. The Question was a character that a lot of fans wanted Bendis to
write since she is similar to Jessica Jones. He will be seen as a counterpoint
to Lois and will set up her fate in the DCU. And for fans of seeing Lois’ desk
every issue Bendis wants people to pay attention because some of the things we
see are actually spoilers for things we will not see for 2 years. But closer to
that is the return of Jon Kent in January's Superman. He will be older since he
went through puberty in space according to Lois but there is a lot more to it
than that. |
