The
Lucha Underground promotion is being sued for keeping their talent in limbo
until a fifth season of the show is announced. Ivelisse was the first to say she
is “being legally held hostage” by Lucha Underground. She claims they convinced
her to do season four of the show under the promise that she would be released
after the season ended but are still refusing to let her go. The call to release
them isn’t coming from the producers of the show, MGM, but the LLC, which is ran
by Dorian Roldan and John Fogelman. Now El Hijo del Fantasma, known as King
Cuerno in Lucha Underground, has filed a lawsuit in California against the El
Rey Network and Baba-G Productions, the production company behind Lucha
Underground. He is claiming that both El Rey and Baba-G have illegally
restricted him and other wrestlers from “engaging in their lawful profession”.
Pro Wrestling Sheet has reported that Lucha Underground contracts are worth less
than $4,000 a year and Fantasma is claiming to have lost thousands of dollars in
lost earnings due to the contract, and is seeking both putative and actual
damages. Joey Ryan is also part of the lawsuit. The Lucha Underground contracts
were originally for seven seasons since it was considered a regular TV show. |
