 In the first issue of
Brian Michael Bendis, David Walker and Jamal Campbell’s Naomi we learned that
the secret being hidden by her entire town will have a major effect on the DC
Universe. Bendis had an idea of creating a new small town in the DCU because
everything in the DCU takes place in major cities. Walker felt the same way and
so the town Naomi lives in was created. In #1 Naomi’s search for the truth about
her past led to Superman dropping by to talk to her. And the issue ended with
her learning that her birth was connected with a secretive superhero-related
event that happened 17 years ago, the year she was born. That secret will be a
part of not only Young Justice but the rest of the DCU at large if other writers
want to use it. The two make an analogy that what they are doing is similar to
what Jack Kirby was doing when he came to DC and created the Fourth World but
they aren’t claiming that Naomi will make that level of an impact.
