HBO has announced they have given a green
light to one of the five Game of Thrones pilots. The pilot is from author and
co-executive producer George R.R. Martin and Kick Ass’ Jane Goldman. The show
will be set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones and show the
world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. The series
will explore the secrets of Westeros’ history, the true origin of the white
walkers, the mysteries of the East, and show how the Stark family became
legendary. Martin says that three of the pilots are still active but one is
dead. He thinks at least one will become a series. There is no debut date for
the first prequel, but casting has begun. The eighth and last season of the main
series will premiere April 2019 on HBO. By the by, HBO has confirmed that a Game
of Thrones reunion special was shot in Belfast earlier this year, one which
features the return of actors from previous seasons. The special was hosted by
Conan O’Brien and we know that Sean Bean (who played Ned Stark) and Jason Momoa
(who played Khal Drogo) are a part of it. But if you want to see it then you
will have to buy the Complete Series box set (containing seasons 1-8) next year. |
