Arrival’s Denis Villeneuve adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune is
about to finally start production. The plan is to turn the novel into a two part
film. Villeneuve re-wrote the first draft of the script by Eric Roth. He did
want to direct both parts at the same time but that would have cost too much. So
he will direct the first part then take a break before starting the second part.
The lead will be played by Call Me By Your Name’s Timothee Chalamet. He will be
Paul Atreides. Already in the cast is Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Oscar Isaac
and Rebecca Ferguson as Paul’s parents, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin,
Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista and Charlotte Rampling. |
