Conor
McGregor went on ESPN to comment on him punching a pub patron in the face back
in April of this year. McGregor admitted he was in the wrong. On 4/6 he went
into the Marble Arch Pub in Dublin to buy a round of his Proper No. Twelve Irish
whiskey for the bar. He lined up the glasses and poured the shots himself but
when one refused the free shot McGregor threw a punch at the man. He was removed
from the bar and the whole thing was caught on camera. McGregor told ESPN, “In
reality, it doesn’t matter what happened there. I was in the wrong. That man
deserved to enjoy his time in the pub without having it end the way it did. I
tried to make amends. And I made amends back then. That doesn’t even matter; I
was in the wrong. I have to realize, that’s not the attitude or behavior of a
leader or martial artist, of a champion. I must get my head screwed on and just
get back in the cage and fight for redemption, retribution, respect. The things
that made me the man I am. And that’s what I will do.” McGregor had said he was
retired but during the interview he said he was willing to have a rematch with
UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov or fight Max Holloway, Dustin
Poirier, Justin Gaethje and Frankie Edgar. Nurmagomedov has been saying lately
that he doesn’t have a lot of fights left in him so that rematch may have to
happen in 2020.
