 The
new Dark Horse series BANG!, from Matt Kindt and Wilfredo Torres is their
version of James Bond. The lead character Thomas Cord may not even be secret
agent Thomas Cord. Kindt flat out says the series is a take off of James Bond
and it uses a fan theory that Bond is a codename and not an actual name. So in
the series we see at the start that there have been hundreds of Thomas Cords.
Most have died violent deaths and some have ended up in a community similar to
what we saw in the Prisoner V series. But in the case of Cord he remembers
everything that happened in the other versions and that makes him sort of insane
since his mind cannot take all of that input. Torres and Kindt decided to work
together after talking at a convention. The initial plan is for the book to
explore all aspects of the spy, action, detective, and noir genres but add
elements of the Twilight Zone.
