The current War of Realms arc in Mighty Thor has Thor and her allies against the
Dark Elf king Malekith, and the rival realms of Asgard that make up his Dark
Council. This November Jason Aaron and Oliver Coipel will launch a new series
called The Unworthy Thor that will star the former wielder of the hammer. The
series will be set up in Mighty and debut after War of Realms ends and the new
arc called The Asgard/Shi'Ar War begins. We had seen that the former Thor was
being held captive in Mighty Thor #5 and Unworthy will tell readers where he has
been since and what he has gotten himself into. Aaron says that when we reunite
with him Thor will be a darker and angrier version of what we have seen before.
Aaron also says that we may actually learn what made Thor unworthy in Original
Sin. The new series will begin with Thor back on the moon where he will
encounter the Unseen, the former Nick Fury. There he will learn if the existence
of the hammer of Ultimate Thor. In his quest to find it he will encounter Ulik
and learn that the Collector is also looking for the hammer. The question behind
the series will be whether Thor can pick up the hammer if he finds it since he
still may not be worthy. |
