Here is what we know so far about the CBS All Access series Star Trek:
Discovery: the show's release date has been pushed back from January 2017 to May
2017...producer Bryan Fuller says the show will have a female lead but she
wont be a captain…the series will be about an event in Trek history that has
been talked about but never fully explored…it takes place a decade before Kirk
and will bridge the gap between Enterprise and the original series…the show will
run 13 episodes…one of the crew will be openly gay…the show will follow the USS
Discovery (NCC-1031), the name of the ship on Captain Cook’s Third Voyage…at
first the show was to debut in January but that’s now not going to happen…the
first episode will run on CBS and the rest will run on the streaming
service…international audiences will be able to watch the show on Netflix…Fuller
says we will see the Klingons…the writing staff will include Star Trek alums
Kristen Beyer, Joe Menosky and Heroes’ Aron Coleite…one of the producers on the
series will be Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan’s Nicholas Meyer…we will see
multiple crews in the storyline and eventually' see some familiar characters…the
series is currently in production. |
