After being played by Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine Tom Clancy’s
Jack Ryan will return but this time for a TV series. Lost’s Carlton Cuse is
developing the series for Amazon. The role of Ryan will now be played by 13
Hours’ John Krasinski. The original idea was for the show to be another
adaptation of Clear and Present Danger, the fourth novel in the Jack Ryan
series. It had been adapted in 1994 but as work progressed what they were coming
up with felt dated. So this take will have Krasinski play the up-and-coming CIA
analyst who uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into
the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens
destruction on a global scale. The ten episode season will not adapt a Clancy
novel but have Ryan deal with ISIS. Future seasons will deal with real world
issues and stories. |
