Urijah Faber will retire after his December 17th fight with Brad Pickett at UFC
on FOX 22. The fight will take place at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento,
Faber's home town. He made the announcement on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.
Faber was the top star of World Extreme Cage fighting when UFC bought the
company in 2007 to have a separate property to put on NBC Sports Network. He was
the WEC featherweight champion and was absorbed into UFC when UFC closed down
WEC in 2010, which I was present to see their last card. He had lost three of
his last four fights, including another loss to his rival Dominick Cruz
recently. Faber was and still is the leader of Team Alpha Male in Sacramento. |
