Nick Diaz’s issue with the Nevada Athletic Commission has ended. Nick tested
positive to marijuana after his UFC 183 fight with Anderson Silva in January of
2015. He was almost suspended for life then got a five-year suspension which
became an 18 month one. His initial fine was $165,000 but that was cut down to
$100,000. The 18-month sentence was up on Aug. 1 but he still owed the
commission $75,000. Diaz and the commission have worked out a payment plan and
he is now able to work in the state of Nevada. The move allows him to fight and
corner other fighters. Diaz doesn’t have a fight set up but according to UFC
President Dana White Diaz “wants to fight and is ready to go.” His brother Nate
also avoided suspension for vaping during the press conference after his fight
with Conor McGregor at UFC 202. He had already given his post fight drug samples
and thought he was done with his testing since the fight was over so the USADA
and the NSAC gave him a pass. As you can tell both brothers have an issue with
weed. The NSAC did fine Nate for his bottle-throwing incident with McGregor at
the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference. |
