The
first editor on the manga series Attack on Titan has been arrested on suspicion
of murder. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police took Park Jung-Hyun into custody for
the alleged murder of his wife in 2016. In the early moments of 8/9 Park called
emergency services to report that his wife “had collapsed.” When the police
showed up his wife was found lying face-up at the base of the stairwell in a
state of cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead at the hospital an hour later.
Park had told the police she had fallen down the stairs but her autopsy revealed
the cause of death as suffocation due to pressure applied around the neck. Park,
when confronted with the news then said she “committed suicide by hanging
herself by a handrail.” Park was the initial editor for Attack on Titan when it
launched in 2009. |
