NBC’s
Timeless was cancelled then suddenly renewed. There was a vigorous fan campaign
to save the show and when NBC changed their minds the fans got the credit. But
NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt says while the fan campaign helped
it wasn’t why the show was renewed: “What I say to the fans when they come out
in droves when we cancel a show is ‘Where were you when we had the show on the
air in helping us build this into a huge ratings success?’. The outcry from
fans, I don’t know how many there really were. Like all things on social media,
it’s a lot smaller than you think. But we’re happy to know they cared and love
the show. We love the show.” NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke added
that she wasn’t happy to cancel the show but the price was too high for a show
that was getting modest ratings. So the second season will shoot in Los Angeles
instead of Vancouver which will get NBC about $10 million in tax credits. So the
show will not have a higher cost. Timeless will return in 2018. |
