Since Jon Jones’ B sample also failed a post fight drug test the California
State Athletic Commission has overturned his win over Daniel Cormier at UFC 214.
The fight is now in the books as a no-contest. With the ruling we now wait to
see if the USDA is going to slap Jones with a four-year suspension since this is
his second drug failure. When informed about the confirmation of the drug being
found in his system and the CSAC ruling Jones’ attorney Howard Jacobs told
MMAjunkie: “We only received the notification late last night, after the
announcement. We will review the documentation that we have received and
continue our investigation, but none of this changes the fact that Jon Jones has
never knowingly taken this substance.” The CSAC will conduct a hearing to
determine Jones’ final punishment. Jones has been stripped of his title and it
has been given back to Cormier. |
