Georges St-Pierre has said if he loses to Michael Bisping at UFC 217 or loses
any fight he will retire. Bisping has said if he loses to GSP he will retire but
has now backtracked on that statement since he is having too much fun fighting.
UFC president Dana White thinks that if GSP loses to Bisping he wouldn’t want
his career to end on a loss. Instead he thinks that GSP would go back to the 170
division and fight there. White has drawn out a path to a possible Conor
McGregor vs. Georges St-Pierre fight that would be a major money fight. McGregor
has fought in multiple weight divisions so the fight seems to be a natural. If
the fight happened it wouldn’t be until late 2018 but White is willing to wait.
That super fight could take place in either the 100, 000 seat arena in Croke
Park in Ireland (which due to local ordinances would have to happen during the
daytime), the 56,000 seat arena in Toronto or at the massive T-Mobile Arena in
Las Vegas (I would go to that fight). McGregor has mentioned St-Pierre as a
possible opponent so he’s up for the fight. McGregor’s next fight will likely be
against interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. The fight would unify
Ferguson’s interim belt with McGregor’s lightweight title and could happen at
UFC 219. |
