Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini’s Low is set thousands of years in
the future where humanity is waiting to die in high tech cities at the bottom of
the ocean because they can’t survive on the surface of the Earth. In the series
the Caine family has decided to travel to the harsh surface world and from there
take their city (yes, the whole city) off planet in order to save them. Low
isn’t on the racks right now so that the creators can keep the book on a
schedule that doesn’t have months between issues. In #19 Tajo Caine discovered
that Io (who Remender says is not his version of Vision) had downloaded a major
part of her brother consciousness and in doing so discovered what could be an
inhabitable world. She and Io then tricked the Senate into igniting the engines
below their city to send it out into space. When the series resumes with #20 we
will see what happened to the surface as the city moves past Earth and into
space. The return of the series will allow us to learn more about Io and it’s
multiple personalities which makes it very unpredictable. Remender says the book
will get a major time jump in the future and readers will just have to go along
for the ride. He’s also working on adapting the comic into a TV series. |
