In
January 2015 Reginald Hudlin and original Milestone
co-founder Denys Cowan announced plans for Milestone 2.0. And then nothing
happened save for the reveal that the estate of late writer and original
Milestone co-founder Dwayne McDuffie is suing Hudlin, Cowan and Milestone
co-founder Derek Dingle for using Milestone intellectual property without their
consent. That suit isn’t stopping the plan for Milestone to launch a new DC
imprint in 2018. The imprint will take place on Earth-M so it’s separate from
the main DCU. And in the new incarnation stories will take place in other cities
not just Dakota. In the spring the first book of the imprint will be Milestone
#1 and feature Icon and Rocket. The creative team will be Hudlin, Cowan and
artist Ken Lashley. The same writing team is doing a new Static Shock series
that will have art from Kyle Baker. Static Shock will have a new character in
the book, a blonde female hero called Amber. Hulk’s Greg Pak is writing a
limited series called Duo that is inspired by the original Milestone series
Xombi but has a couple sharing an immortal body. Hudlin and Wildstorm’s Ryan
Benjamin are doing a limited series called Love Army about a secret army of
super-strong women. Hudlin is also co-writing an Earth M series with Alice
Randall that has art from Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz. Deathstroke’s Christopher
Priest is working on an unnamed book as well. Hudlin has already turned in
multiple scripts so he’s not as overworked as it looks. |
