Current
WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman was one of several ESPN employees named in a
sexual discrimination and harassment lawsuit filed against the company. The suit
was filed by former ESPN employee Adrienne Lawrence in Connecticut's United
States District Court, but her damages were not specified. According to her suit
Coachman emailed Ms. Lawrence offering to provide her with mentorship and gave
her his cell phone number. She claims that the initial conversation turned from
a professional one into a personal one. Lawrence also claims that Coachman was
notorious for sexually harassing female employees and so she told him she had a
boyfriend which ended all conversation. When his behavior was mentioned to an
ESPN producer Lawrence claims the producer knew she was talking about Coachman
but she didn’t see him removed from the air or commercials. Lawrence has also
claimed that ESPN anchor John Buccigross also harassed her and that former ESPN
personality Chris Berman left a racially charged voicemail for ESPN personality
Jemele Hill, which Hill denied every happened. ESPN released a statement that
the issues Lawrence claimed happened were investigated and found them to be
untrue. Coachman has also denied her claims. WWE is investigating the issue. |
