 Venom lives in the shadows
hunting down those who harm the innocent. But since Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman
have taken over the book Eddie Brock will instead be the hunted. Cates has been
a Venom fan since he was a kid. He even did sculptures of him in high school
which he used to get into art school where be met Geoff Shaw. Cates loves the
idea that Eddie Brock still hasn’t figured himself out yet. And when his run
starts Eddie is at a point where he can’t trust his symbiote because it’s acting
very erratic for some reason. And so Eddie is scared for the first time in a
while. The threat he has to face is a new character that he has never faced
before or at least he hasn’t faced in this form. In #3 Eddie will meet Miles
Morales, whose mother died after an encounter with a Venom-like creature back in
the Ultimate Universe. So Miles hates him from day one and Eddie will wonder how
someone he never met hates him so much. During his run Cates will introduce a
large new supporting cast filled with people who you would not expect to see
with Venom. #7 will add a major player in the same way that bringing Sentry in
to Doctor Strange did. The first arc will be scary, the second more personal for
Eddie and year one leads to a major story in year two. |
