The
six-issue weekly Man of Steel limited series is almost done which will lead into
Brian Michael Bendis taking over Action Comics and Superman in July. He has
adjusted to working at DC, which does things completely different from Marvel.
There are things Marvel does better than DC and vice versa and he has so far
gotten comfortable with that. That adjustment is helping with the sequel to
Words for Pictures he is working on. One of the things we have seen with the
Bendis Superman stuff so far is his love for the Daily Planet. He sees the
Planet as a major part of the character. Clark could have not done anything and
sat around the Fortress of Solitude all day but he decided to be a reporter
because a reporter can look for the truth in a place where Superman can’t. In
Action Comics #1000 he introduced Rogol Zaar because he saw that Superman had
some great foes but needed more. After going through Superman’s history he
called DC Co-Publisher Dan DiDio and asked if DC had ever done a story about
what really happened on Krypton and got a response that led to the creation of a
villain that would get under Clark’s skin like no one else has ever has. Bendis
then named him after the doctor who saved his life. |
