Lincoln will only be playing Rick Grimes in a total of six episodes in the ninth
season of AMC’s The Walking Dead. He is leaving the show. Complicating things
further is the fact that Lauren Cohan is only doing six episodes since she has a
new ABC show Whiskey Cavalier. Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon will become the new
leading man and is getting a new $20 million contract. Since Rick is the main
character of the comic and the focus of most of the storylines his leaving
combined with Cohan suggests the show should be seeking an end point. AMC is
fully aware that viewer ship on the series has dropped and Lincoln leaving will
lead to more fans cashing out. |
