After being shot in the head Dick Grayson is calling himself Ric Grayson. Scott Lobdell and Fabian Nicieza suddenly took over Nightwing from Ben Percy even though his issues had been solicited. The shooting has caused Nightwing to lose the majority of his memories since the death of his parents. So his life as Robin and Nightwing is gone to him. He knows his life as Nightwing led to him almost dying so he was no interest in going back to his life as a superhero. Grayson still retains his muscle memory from his years of training so it’s a question of how long he will feel this way. The recovery will be slow and as the story progresses we will see why he chose Ric as his new name. And we will see a man more inspired by Boston Brand than Batman. Ric still speaks 16 different languages and knows every defense move in the world but he’s now working with a circus life mentality so he’s a drifter who will seldom sleep in the same bed more than a few days. Barbara Gordon will play a part of Ric’s recovery process but she will not be the only woman in his life.
