Iron
Man’s Jon Favreau has signed on to executive produce and write a live-action
Star Wars TV series for Disney’s upcoming streaming service. The series will
take place between Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The
budget for the eight episode series will be around $100 million, which is what
it cost to do season six of Game of Thrones. Star Wars Rebels showrunner Dave
Filoni will direct two episodes of the first season and Thrones’ Alan Taylor,
and it’s not clear if Favreau himself will take the helm on an episode or two
rather than just write and produce. The show is called The Mandalorian so it’s
connected to Boba and Jango Fett since Mandalore is where both came from. Narcos’
Pedro Pascal is rumored to be the star of the series. Disney CEO Bob Iger says
multiple Star Wars TV shows are in development for Disney’s streaming service. |
