Star Trek: Discovery season two is being
made right now and the show isn’t the only Star Trek show planned for CBS
All-Access. For season two Hell On Wheels’ Anson Mount has joined the series as
Captain Christopher Pike, who takes command of the Discovery according to
Regulation 19, Section C, because it is in imminent danger. Here is what else we
know: Season 2 premieres in January but in December we’ll get four short
films…we’ll see Harry Mudd again…Spock will appear…Mary Wiseman’s Tilly still
wants to be captain…Rebecca Romijn will join the cast as the original Number One
from The Cage…the series will finally synch up fully with canon…season one
showrunners Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts were fired and Alex Kurtzman has
taken over as sole showrunner for the second season while also overseeing the
Discovery writers’ room. Berg and Harberts took over the series when Bryan
Fuller left due to creative differences. The two blew out the budget for the
five episodes they did and were perceived as abusive to the writing staff. CBS
also has plans for multiple other Star Trek series besides the already announced
Picard series starring Patrick Stewart. When the series was first announced
there was a question of whether it was a short run series or an ongoing but
Kurtzman confirmed it was going to be an ongoing with no connection with
Discovery. |
