Spectre didn’t make as much as Skyfall and wasn’t as well received. Daniel Craig
may or may not return as James Bond so people are wondering what the plan is for
the next Bond film. According to associate producer Gregg Wilson, "We've just
begun to doodle with ideas for the next movie. Each script process begins when
we ask ourselves the question: 'What is the world afraid of now?' In the case of
Spectre the theme was global monitoring and utilization of information. So now
we are trying to find out what will be relevant in the coming years. We always
want to do something new with the Bond character and see him in situations we
have not seen him in the past. We must give the audience something new every
time…often it helps to go back to Ian Fleming's novels for inspiration, whether
you're talking about grades or mood." Bond 25 isn’t coming out until 2018 so
there is time to figure things out and while there have been rumors that Craig
turned down a lot of money to return that isn’t really the case. But just in
case he doesn’t a few have thrown their hats in and out of the ring. The Night
Manager’s Tom Hiddleston is more than willing to take over and names like Idris
Elba, Aidan Turner, Luke Evans, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Damian Lewis and
Richard Madden have been tossed around. Elba has said he’s too old for the part.
Hiddleston seems to be the front runner and supposedly Night Manager’s Susanne
Bier is in the mix as a possible director. Sam Mendes has already said he isn’t
returning and Bier would be the first woman ever to direct a James Bond movie. |
