THE CARDS ARE WILD Posted: 100116
Game of Thrones’ George R.R. Martin may be getting another TV series based on his work since Universal Cable Productions has acquired the rights to develop Martin’s anthology series Wild Cards. Since Martin has an HBO exclusive deal he will not be connected to the possible series. Those duties would be handled by Martin’s assistant editor Melinda Snodgrass and Gregory Noveck. The series of novels were set in an alternate world in which an alien virus was released in the skies over Manhattan in 1946, ultimately spreading across Earth. 90% died horribly (black queen), 9% were deformed (jokers), and a lucky 1% scored extraordinary and unpredictable powers (aces). Martin’s first book was published in 1986 and there have been 22 volumes released. The project wouldn’t hit the air until 2018 at the earliest.
