BATWOMAN GOES SOLO AGAIN Posted: 122016
Catwoman’s Marguerite Bennett has been given the assignment to write a solo Batwoman series. DC introduced the Kate Kane version of Batwoman in 2006 during the weekly limited series 52. She received notice for being the first lesbian superhero and was the main focus on Greg Rucka’s run on Detective Comics before getting her own solo series. We will first see the character in a February launching Batwoman: Rebirth before Bennett and James Tynion IV team on the first arc. The series will also be set up in a two-issue arc of Detective Comics. The new series will be drawn by Velvet’s Steve Epting. Bennett says the series will have Kane tracking down people who have escaped the Bat-family’s jurisdiction. The series will have its own supporting cast. It will also fill in gaps in her past since the time of her life after being kicked out of the military has been a secret. Kane will also continue to be part of Detective.
