STILL "BROKEN"? Posted: 040917
TNA was working on a new deal with Matt and Jeff Hardy but as we saw at Wrestlemania that deal fell through and the brothers are now WWE Tag Team Champions. TNA did want them to sign a short team deal and have them on TV before leaving the promotion but the brothers didn’t want to give up the right to book themselves on independent shows. The big question surrounding them is who owns the popular "Broken Hardy" character since Matt filed for a copyright when the ownership of TNA was in flux. Matt claims that TNA owns the rights to anything filmed for TNA but that he owns the names and all the characters. The new parent company of TNA Anthem Media has said they can use the characters anywhere as long as they get a cut of all revenue but it's assumed that Vince McMahon and the WWE can live without any reference to the character. Current TNA Impact Grand Champion Drew Galloway has left the promotion as well. He was offered a new contact at the last minute but had already decided to leave. Galloway intends to work anywhere he can and may decide to return to the WWE at some point if they are interested. Mike Bennett and Christy Hemme have also left the promotion.
