As he was appearing on Beyond the Fight with Chael Sonnen Jack Swagger announced
he was leaving the WWE. He said it was because he wasn’t happy with his position
in the company and negotiations on a new contract weren’t going well. He told
Sonnen, “I asked for my release from WWE. It's still kind of an ongoing process
right now. Basically, it came down to contract negotiations and we were way off.
They didn't value me at what I thought I was valued at. So, you can be angry
about it because wrestling is something that you get so passionate about, but
this was a business decision. They weren't giving me the opportunity to make the
full amount of income I could for my family, so when you put it like that it's
time to go." Swagger wasn’t happy with the way he was booked and was only
working on house shows anyway. His last program was with Baron Corbin. The WWE
at first refused to let him go but changed their minds and released him. The WWE
isn’t likely to allow him to work anywhere else for 90 days and he will not be
allowed to use the name. |
