Before UFC 202 at the press conference hyping the fight
between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz the two camps threw bottles at each other
in front of the press and fans. Diaz was annoyed that McGregor showed up late
and as the two were answering questions Diaz walked off the stage. That’s when
the two and members of their camps started throwing the bottles at each other
with some hitting some of the fans in the seats. Both were fined by the Nevada
Athletic Commission. McGregor was hit with a $300,000, which turned into a
$75,000 fine and a request for McGregor to do 50 hours of community service so
he could produce an anti-bullying campaign. McGregor then threatened to never
fight in Nevada again. The NAC then blinked and reduced the punishment to
$25,000 fine, 25 hours of community service, and McGregor covering the court
costs of the Nevada Attorney General. Diaz was hit with a $50,000 fine and a
demand of 50 hours of community service. Diaz and his attorney signed off on the
deal but his fine was reduced to $15,000 and his community service requirement
to 15 hours. McGregor’s fine was higher because he threw a full Monster Energy
can at Diaz. |
